Matt Denzer
Master Certified Golf Instructor
Originally from Central Florida, Matt was introduced to the game of golf at the age of ten by his father. Matt had a successful junior golf career and received a scholarship to attend Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. While at Eckerd, Matt became the captain of his college golf team, and then led the “Tritons” to their first-ever tournament victory.
After graduating, Matt began taking lessons at a Leadbetter Golf Academy with a certified golf instructor. He was so impressed with the teaching methods he was learning, he decided to forego his pursuit of playing golf professionally and joined the Leadbetter team in 2003.
Since becoming a GLE Certified Golf Instructor Matt has had the opportunity to travel to many of the Leadbetter academies and work with some of the best players in the world. Matt has spent summers in Vail, Colorado, and also taught in Naples, Florida; Nemacolin, Pennsylvania, and Half Moon Bay, Jamaica.
In 2016 and 2018 Matt was chosen as a Golf Digest Top Instructor under the age of 40 and in 2017 Matt was also chosen as Golf Digest Best Teacher by State -FL, as well as Leadbetter Teacher of the Year.
Presently, Matt resides in Palm Desert, CA with his wife Julie and three children. Matt serves as the Academy Director in Whistler, British Columbia and Palm Desert, CA.
Jeff Decker
Golf Instructor
Jeff Decker grew up in Indiana and began playing golf at the age of 7. After an accomplished high school career, Jeff attended Vincennes University on a golf scholarship.
After college, Jeff got his start in the golf business, becoming an assistant Golf Professional. Jeff has traveled all over the southeast working in various locations including Houston, Atlanta, Jamaica and ultimately settling down in Jupiter, FL in 2013 at PGA National Resort and Spa.
Jeff has a passion for the game of golf and joins our team with over 25 years experience in the golf industry. Jeff believes in a fundamental approach to the game and loves teaching players of all levels.
Will Byrne
Golf Instructor
Originally from Ireland, Will Byrne is a PGA of Canada Professional. After taking up the game at the age of 12 he found a passion for golf and was part of a provincial title winning team for his local golf club at the age of 16. Will went on to play on the competitive amateur championship circuit in Ireland as well as winning another provincial title playing for his local golf club.
Will then decided to move across the water and began working at the Fairmont Château Whistler Golf Club. Not long after that decided to turn professional, joining the PGA of Canada. It was here where he began to pursue his big passion for teaching and also where he began taking lessons from Matt Denzer at The Golfzon Leadbetter Academy – Whistler. Based on how much he enjoyed the Leadbetter coaching experience and his love for Whistler, Will decided to become a Leadbetter Certified Instructor and is incredibly excited to be part of the Leadbetter Golf Academy coaching team.
